Just new rubber. I'm serious when I say we regard the X5 35d as a work truck. So I'll stick with the std 18" wheels that give as much sidewall as possible. We drive on unpaved roads every day. Our driveway has several solid limestone ledges which protrude 2-3in out of the crushed limestone road base. We really do take the X5 w/ trailer into the local quarry to load up with the big boys: 18 wheel gravel trucks, cement trucks, and puny 14 yrd dump trucks.
FWIW I really like the look of the staggered 214s too. But they are simply not practical enough for us.

It's not dirty enough yet
Seriously, our only water source (drinking, cooking, bathing, washing clothes, etc.) is the rain we harvest. Our tanks are running a little low because we have been in a record drought for nearly a year. So unless we get several inches of rain* soon, it probably won't get washed for a month or so.

*To put that in perspective 1" of rain on 1,000sqft of roof produces roughly 650gal. And our cabin has 1,100sq ft of roof. So washing the X5 is not the top priority use of water just now.
