My New 4.6is Detailed, Painted Clipers
Picked up this X about three weeks ago and I love it. I looked at 4.4i’s for a while and my wife decided this is what she wanted. I found this great X in Iowa, it’s in amazing shape and only has 50,000 miles! So last week I painted the caliper thanks to a thread I found on here (thanks Chile1) and today I gave her a nice detail. If any of you are looking for some great detail products check out chemical guys! Everything I used was a product from them and the car looks like new!
About the car:
-2002 X5 4.6is
-50,000 miles
-Black on Black
-Every option I can think of including DVD, MP3, NAV, TOW package, Flare Package (yes its OEM)
About the Detail (all Chemical Guys products)
- 1st washed the entire car with Citrus Wash N Gloss
- 2nd Used a clay bar on the entire car (amazing what I got off this thing) I used a medium grade clay and used the pro detailer with carnauba wax as the lube.
- 3rd Used the scratch n swirl to take out the swirl marks
- 4th Used 2 coats of Jet Seal to seal in the paint (apply jet seal wait 20 minutes then buff off then repeat)
- 5th Used Pete’s 53 paste carnaubawax to give it a nice shine
- 6th Used Grim Reaper to clean the exhaust pipes and used on the rims (when the rims were off for the calipers) to take off the brake dust and tar! (works amazing)
- 7th Sealed the rims with a couple coats of jet seal (brake dust doesn’t stick to them near as bad)
- 8th Used Forever Black (dye kit for the flare kit)
I have also updated the Nav thanks to this site and am thinking about baking the headlights!
The Guy I bought the X from was a member on here and said I should check it out and I am glad I did!
Thanks Guys!!!
