Good points. I guessed most people get confused between composite and plastic since both tend to look somewhat alike.

Does the lifetime warranty applies to the original part that came with the car? Or does it only applies to the replacement OEM part? I would also assumed that the lifetime warranty would only apply to the part that failed, and not the aftermath due to the failing part, right? For example, if the water pump failed and caused engine damage, BMW would only cover the water pump? I don't really see the advantage of the lifetime warranty on parts such as a water pump since most people would replace it as a maintenance item, rather than wait for a catastrophic failure to collect on its warranty.
