Does anyone know how to remove the driver side valve cover on X5 2002 4.4?

I have tried and couple of methods to move the hoses around and arrange room to move the valve cover. I tried to move the hoses on the driver side wheel area to make room.

I think the engine coil “box on the top of the engine” (see the photo) needs to be removed. This also is problem since you need to remove the 4 connections on the back of the box for each cylinder and I cannot figure out how to disconnect this connector. Also what sensor is this? This sensor is shown in the square box.

I am stumped and as you can see this is the best I can get the cover off.
