Two teenage drag racers were arrested Thursday after their cars collided in Queens, leaving a 12-year-old passenger in critical condition, police said.
David Babayeva, 17, and David Badalov, 18, were charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, assault and speeding. Babayeva was also charged with driving without a license after his Lexus hit Badalov's BMW, cops said.
Avi Amenov, who was in the BMW's backseat, suffered massive injuries and underwent emergency surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Babayeva, Badalov and Ilya Ishakov, who was riding shotgun in the BMW, were not seriously hurt but were also taken to the hospital, police said.
"I don't know how this happened," cried Babayeva's mom, Ellen.
The group was returning home from a restaurant when the two cars crashed while racing about 11 p.m. Wednesday on Francis Lewis Blvd. near Weeks Lane, police said.
It was unclear if any of the victims were wearing seatbelts.
