Tough call IMO as knives are really a personal thing.
How about a custom cutting board that fits into the style of things. Its not going to be the bling appeal like knives but seriously, I would not buy knives for anyone since it's so subjective to feel...

The cutting board can just be as intricate/extravengent that is something unique...
