I had a similar problem it was the Final Stage Resistor. Although, my didn't stay on after shutting off the car at times mine wouldn't start until i restarted the car. I also had air blowing slowly. Before you replace that blower unit make sure you know it is the culprit not the by product of the Final Stage Resistor.
