I did look, B...some were pretty good. I am the average photog's worst
critic; well, maybe not the worst, but if the focus isn't right on, and the
composition isn't pretty good, well...it's a snap shot. No biggie, as I take
snap shots, too. But, really well focused and composed and, rigorously
edited batches of photos solve most of the viewers' wonderments.

My guess is most pics by most people, are taken on "Auto"; may be the
worst setting on the camera, imo.

I am not reviewer, nor a pro. Keep shooting, keep looking, keep editing.
Buy your wife what she likes, but you might take her to a photo joint in
NYC area and have her hold the Rebel with a long lens attached. Have
her hold it to her eye, compose and hold it for about 3 mins. She might
like the 135ish max length more. Or, she may like that long lens...
