if your thrust arm bushings have not been replaced in the last 30K miles replace them. a thud/clunk can be heard and felt through the steering wheel when jabbing the brakes at low speeds. if you trust your 2 mechanics you brought your car to, then i would say you have defective aftermarket brake components.
