Update on my situation, the drive arrived this morning, I fitted it and presto, my nav now reads DVD's, including the latest east european with speed cams I got of bittorrent - weyhey 
Now, if only my AV amp wasn't blown, I'd be able to hear the nice lady talking

No problem at all. I appreciate the fact that you responded at all.
Congrats on the repair job. I just ordered a replacement drive from Grandata Online for about $170 so hopefully sometime next week I should have it.
