I have an 89 Blazer that is my winter truck here in Boise, and it's fan went out last winter. It was an easy replacement, but even the slightest tweaking of the entire assembly would cause the whole unit to squeel and chirp. It had to be tightened evenly in a star pattern, just as you would a wheel. I'm hoping that a little squirt of some lubricant and a day of letting the smell dissipate will fix the problem. I've seen replacements done in a 7, so I doubt if the X will be any easier.
