Is it bad that I think international roaming with my provider over here would cost less?

Bluetooth, wifi off and screen on low, listening to music and sending 30 texts a day (as opposed to about 400 before) kills it in a few hours. I'm pretty sure its normal cuz it happens to all my friends too.
