My 03 X5 (3.0) has the same problem, fan keeps blowing after car is turned off, that drained my battery to dead, I need jump every few days. When I read related posts here, I believe the FSR/FSU is the problem and I am going to replace it like others did.
But when I try to order part online, I see this kind of note: “Final Stage Unit Only used on Cars with Automatic Air Condition” (like this one). I got confused, my X5 does not have automatic air condition (I need to manually turn the dial to set fan speed). Here comes my stupid question: does my car also have this kind of FSR/FSU? If not, what caused my fan blow problem after car off? If yes, what is the correct part (FSR) should I order?
