H1N1---Hell yeah! I am not only going to get that vaccine, I am going to have my family get it, as well. My son has asthma, and so he meets a high-risk group criterion. I am a physician treating those patients, constantly exposed, so I will get the vaccine, too.
Why the difference in my attitude about "seaonsal flu" vs "swine flu"? Because this year, the seasonal flu seems TO BE the H1N1 version. It is more virulent, and could be very problematic. I would rather simply not get sick. |
Correct me if i'm wrong Doc...but my understanding is that on average (in the US), it takes a little over a decade for a drug to move from preclinical development to the marketplace. I read somewhere recently that the vaccine ingredients have yet to be approved by the FDA...it seems to me that there's a push to blindly vaccinate the public in the face of any outbreak, regardless of the health risk of the vaccines themselves. H1N1 vaccine contains mercury (thiomersal) amongst others i'm not too comfortable with.
In NY state, there's currently a legal issue broiling between healthcare workers and medical establishments requiring that staff be vaccinated.
I have numerous friends & family members in the medical field who aren't too enthused about the vaccine either. For me personally, there's just far too much evidence of past vaccines and their ingredients that led to future health issues: H151's ingredients; Gulf War Syndrome-anthrax vaccine to name a few.
No thanks...gonna pass. Call me paranoid if you wish but nothing wrong with a healthy dose of paranoia in today's world.
