Yeah, I was thinking that.... I didn't see any way possible Quick would actually post a fully serious "which oil to use" thread.

But to concur with JCL I have personally been in more BMW engines than I can count, and even over 200k miles the ones using BMW oil at BMW service intervals have had no discernible wear or sludge buildup to think of. The only one that stick in my mind that had sludge/wear was getting jiffylube oil changes done about every 2 years or 15000 miles as they only had really short trip driving on it, so never really even got the oil to full operating temperature. (which is kinda important)
