Fixing Thermostat.

Hello people. I am currently in the process of installing a new thermostat on the X5. Now my issue is that when working on these type of cars, my confidence in attempting to fix it myself deminishes. I'm always hearing, you need a "special tool" to fix it. I have worked on numerous import with no problem but when it comes to these type of vehicles, now issues come.

What else is there to do besides, draining the radiation, removing parts to get to the thermostat housing, removing the housing and replacing the thermostat.

Is there anything major I will need to do besides what I said above?

Thanks for any response.
