No jail time, IMO.... for the kids' sake. Probation for the parents and in-home monitoring of the children by social services for the next ten years. The parents should be required to perform community service to repay for all of the services used in this hoax. Obviously they do not have the ability to repay for those services.

Oh, and they should be precluded from capitalizing on this story.
