MD, sounds like LCD may be best if you have a really bright room, but if the sunlight doesn't directly hit the screen, it may be more of your call. From the link LeMans posted, sounds like you should be OK with plasma at sub 6,000 sq.ft. Your issue sounds to be more of lighting siutuation.

Not sure of the altitude difference, but I know a few people with lake houses on Lake Santeetlah in Robinsville, NC with plasmas. No issues that I am aware of. Their homes have pretty significant windows as well.
