I thought the same when read "GC".
Keeping Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee but dumping Patriot, Compass and Commander is the right strategy even if Cherokee needs to go back to being a more serious off-roader (more ground for a start). Compass and Patriot were dumb moves from the start and Commander just looked dumb even if it worked OK.
