I'm pretty sure 'Realchef' has mud flaps fitted. Drop him a PM, I'm sure he'll help you out.
Me, I've got them fitted as well, however only on the rear. Your statement re fitting them on the front to protect the lower painted portions and moulding makes perfect sense.
