When I was in college many years ago, it was the same thing. I was certainly a minority. There was a professor that was a full blown communist, and would have a letter to editor nearly every week in the college newspaper. I responded to quite a few of them over the years. Speaking "truth to power" if you will.

Conversely, I had a prof that made the class subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. Been a subscriber ever since.
