flmrustic is on a distinguished road
At 93K+ Water Pump started leaking. Valve Cover and Timing Chain Cover (Upper) were starting to weep oil, so thought it would be a good time to replace everything that had to come off to get to the Water Pump. Replaced Water Pump, gaskets and o-rings, Thermostst Assembly, New coolant (BMW coolant); Upper and lower Radiator Hoses; Aux Fan Switch and one additional cooling hose. Replaced Upper Timing Chain Cover gaskets (O-ring-Cam Sensor, Solenoid Gasket, Timing cover seal and Strip), Replaced Valve Cover Gaskets Right & Left, Valve cover seal Washer x6 and seal-Valve Cover Nut x16. Replaced A/C Belt, Alternator Belt. It took forever.
Took it to dealer today to get it aligned, and they couldn't do the work, said I had a loose lower control arm on Pass side. I had new lower contrl arms and ball joints replaced by an indie @ 57K. Not good. Could be the extra weight from 20" summer wheels and tires or just a weak link in the supension. This is a heavy dude, and if you play you have to pay. Hope that helps you. Does anyone have a sugestion on the control arms? Any good up-grades out there that will last more than 40K?
