I'm pretty good at adapting to various vehicles, even non-BMWs. As long as there are symbols for everything, I'm okay. The problem starts when buttons are labeled with words.......for some reason pictograms just work better for me.
The new shifter is pointless and an answer to a question never asked. I prefer moving a lever instead of "toggling" a lever that springs back to the original position, reminiscent of the now-standard-issue indicator and wiper stalks. But like those other two items, I can deal with it without hassle.
My quirks:
When I get into my mom's 325i, I take the key and try to jam it into the side of the steering column

. Oh right, it's a button.
When I put a car in to reverse, my left foot goes down into empty space. Oh right, there's no clutch on our Bimmers.
When I drive a car with one of those stupid foot pedal brakes, I put the car in Park, then search everywhere for a lever to pull on the dash. Ditto for BMWs with the electronic P brake.
