Thanks for the info... It seems like this might be
my problem as well. The problem (if you can call it a 'problem') is that it doesn't rain enough in CA for me to further debug this. I still need to make contact with BMW dealership and see if they would do a repair (perhaps like yours) under goodwill or what not.
Has it helped with the leak (have you had a chance to confirm)? How much would it have cost without warranty, if you happen to know?
