You gotta drive one to decide if you want it or not...
I love their looks, but am concerned about (a) potholes, (b) tire wear (Dunlops suck!) and (c) precision of steering. The (a) is somewhat a problem, (b) is not much of a problem since I can special-order them with the Bridgestones which last much longer, but (c) is a huge problem for me, as I am a human alignment machine.... (that is a separate long story of laughs).
So yesterday I had to chance to drive my bro's X5 with 214s, all along on twisty road with some minor road bumps, mini potholes etc. (Bro dont worry I took it easy

). I can tell you that the steering wasnt the same. It was lighter and less precise, and going over the bumps the car needed constant mini corrections. It just wasnt my cup of tea if you know what I mean. One the major reasons I got a BMW is because I love tight and precise steering and handling and I just dont want to sacrifice any of it.
So L, find someone who'd let you drive X6 with summer tires, and let it be another data point to help you with decision.
P.S. BMW of Bloomfield NJ quoted me $3850 for 214s with Bridgestone RFTs, TPMS etc. So far they seem to beat everyone else when it comes to prices of accessories and add-ons.
