Just replaced the 20" RFT's with Vredestein in exact same size and loading.
My impression:
1. noticeble improvement in low speed ride. Let jolts and thumps whem going over sharp ridges and rough surface. The improvement is not huge,perhaps less than I had hoped for. Seems that RFT's are as bad as what some people say. The poor ride probably had more to do with the 20" rims and suspension. The tyre pressure are 40psi allround, done by the shop. Not sure if that is ideal or not. The RFT' are not worn, only done 13k, and still have plenty of life left.
2. Noise level, not much difference really, perhaps slightly better, as one would expect as they are brand new.
3. Grip level, sorry can't tell. It;s my wife's car and I hardly ever drive it hard.
4. Tread patterns are aggressive, with very wide grroves. Couple this witht the soft blocks makes me think that the wear might turn out to be quite poor, but will find out in the months ahead I guess.
5. Main disappointment: theses tyres are much narrower than the Bridgestone RFT's. The shoulders are much rounder, and they appear to be narrower. So I decided to take some measurements. The contact patch is aroud 2-3cm less than the Bridgestone, and the widest part of the tyres also measured similiarly less. So visually, they are like 285 tyres instead of 315 tyres (for the rear, the front tyres are narrower too).
I took some photos. The tyres are placed side by side. The Vredestein in 315 looks not much wider than the bridestone in 275, as shown in photo 1, left side.
