Had Blizzaks and Michey Alpins: Blizzak may be a slightly better tire for serious azz
snow/ice, but as X-cellent remarked, they wear like thin veneer on dry roads.
The Michey Alpins, (now the Lat Alpin, but simply an evolved version), were very
good also, and wore better in non-snow situs.

Back at the Selection Ranch, I feel that all the brand name dedicated snow tires
are fabulous these days...I'd hunt for the less expensive buy unless the OP is
living in way upstate NY.

PS...if you don't put your winter set on too soon, or run them too long
in the Spring, you should easily get 2-4 winter seasons out of the set,
depending on your winter mileage and dry road %.
