I have a 2010 X5 35d w/ the sport package. Comes with the Michelin Latitude Tour HP 255's on the 19" rims. I'm putting on 20" 214's w/ Bridgestones for most driving in southern CA.

I plan on using the car to head to the mountains in the winter though.

Question is should I just keep the Michelins on the car and bring along cables? Or should I sell the Michelins and get some true snow tires? I don't know if there's a big downside to driving these on dry roads when the conditions are good.
