Thanks for the update.

The DMTL (Diagnostic Module - Tank Leakage) pump valve is probably the valve in the system that pressurizes the fuel tank to check for leaks. Did the dealer tell you any more details?

BTW there is a fascinating read in the 3series forum on bimmerfest of how complicated this system can be and why it may not be easy to get the light to go away even if it is not really a problem anymore. See post #4
