I don't think that is the case. We had no issues ordering Adaptive Drive without ordering the Sport Activity Package. The Shadowline exterior trim and alcantara headliner is much nicer than the gray (feels like sandpaper) headliner on our diesel and the matte trim is boring, but we couldn't justify the price.
