In talking w/service the other day, I was told, that a phone connecting through Bluetooth uses the external antenna.

So adding an ejector box and snap-in adapter is really only a $400 convenience. And if you have 6FL instead of 6NF you loose the iPod functionality of an iPhone. Lastly, I would still probably keep forgetting the iPhone in the cradle like I do now when I plug it into the cable.

My solution was a new iPod Nano (5G). $150 done.
