Intermittent fault was caused by a sticking fuel pump relay. I found that when the engine refused to fire there was no power getting to the external supplementary fuel pump (located adjacent the fuel filter). I swapped the fuel pump relay and away we went!!!! A fitting end to 2009!

The fuel pump relay is located on the rear of the fuse panel behind the glove box. Glove box has to be removed and the fuse panel lowered. There are 2 light green relays – the fuel pump relay is the furthest most (ie nearest the engine).
