Do the 275s extend beyond the non-20" rear fenders like the 315s do? Would you mind posting a pic? I think this is a great way to go and you probably don't need to install the flares.
It may even be a good (better?) performance option because it could help balance out the handling. I'm sure there is already a tendency for understeer that is only enhanced by staggered tires.
