Unhappy 2001 X5 4.4 needs tranny work-typical jerky tranny. Do you trust AAMCO?

Hello,
I have a 2001 x5 4.4i (130,000 miles) with the typical jerky symptoms reported on this forum. I changed the fluids about a year ago and it seems to be getting worse. I also noticed RPM drops and rises mostly during braking. It also seems to be jerkier during moderate to high speed turns. The jerky stops once to put it in Sport mode also. I do not want to buy a new tranny just for this to happen again in three years so I am leaning towards a tranny rebuild. I call a local AAMCO center and they said they can rebuild and guarantee the tranny for three year or life (extra $$$ of course). My question is has anyone brought their BMW to AAMCO? Feedback on your experiences would be nice. Also do you think it might be something else wrong? I still have reverse and no warning messages yet.
If you know of any other shops indie or big box tranny shops in the Chicago area you would recommend would also be helpful.

Thanks!
