Somehow I missed this thread.

I suppose by now you know that a properly filled and functioning 35d DEF system should last between normal Condition Based Oil Services. So in many (probably most) cases a 35d owner should not see a notice that the DEF needs filling.

But of course, we are seeing several reports of DEF system warnings even after a low number of miles. The majority of these appear to be due to the DEF system not being properly filled or refilled. But some are due to the passive tank freezing long enough to draw the active tank down to the warning level. And a handful appear to be due to DEF system malfunctions (leaky tanks or busted sensors).

So no news is good news
