To me it looks like the crumple zones in the third picture have sustained damage. If they've collapsed even a small amount, the car will be totaled, as there is no way to repair that type of damage, and the integrity of the frame is destroyed.

Though, that's just what I'm seeing in the photo. If you have a close-up of the damage behind the driver-side fender, it would help determine the issue.

At first glance though, that looks like some buckling to me.
