Prices on OEM Parts vs Aftermarket.
So my car has a lot of crap that needs to be done. I tend to buy OEM crap but at times it's just a bit much for simple things. So I got a relationship with a dealer that gets me Wholesale prices (through a mechanic friend).
Oh while my mechanic is already replacing the water pump and such anything else worth mentioning to get it done to save on labor in the long run? Just thought about the belts will get that quoted next. Any of the pulleys need replacement? Tensioner?
So the parts/prices I need are.
Intake Gasket $57.36
Trans Filter $90
Trans Oil --Didn't want to sell $8 bucks a quart said to just buy DEXRON6. Where do you guys get your Trans OIL?
Water Pump - $104 (Preventative maintenance 103k miles).
Thermostat -$77 (SERIOUSLY? $77 that just sounds like a crap load?) Should I even replace it? Same deal as water pump.
Intake Hose -$15 ---whistle sound
Oil Filter - $15
What if any of those parts can i get an aftermarket version of it with good quality. I found some stuff at Bav Auto since a lot of members like this site and I've had good experience with them before.
Thermostat/Gasket $67.95
Water Pump and Seal - with upgraded metal impeller
Part # : 11 51 1 744 243 $57
24 11 7 557 070
Automatic Transmission Filter Kit $98.95
I got a2002 x5 103k.
Thanks Guys,
Piston
