There is a button on the left hand side of the headrest itself. Its a mechanical operation. You depress the button and then you can move the front part of the headrest back and forth. You can actually move it forward w/out depressing the button too, that's when you hear the clicks. There are 3 positions the front part of the headrest can be adjusted to.
