I recently put the Magnaflow 35168 it looks much better then the stock singles, but I had the same problem everyone else has had. The muffler shop cut the pipes, spot welded, but they still stick out too far.

I am looking for something shorter, a bit wider as these also don't fill the whole space, dual tips, and pref black so they don't need to be painted..anyone with an idea please post as well!

I have the same Magnaflow tips and I agree, they do stick out a little more than they should. My installer also cut the exhaust pipe and fabricated a new one to weld these tips to the muffler. However, I think I may have an answer to your problem:
