How about frozen snow in your rims?
clean the rims of ice and snow derbies and you'll be just fine.
also,about the braking,I had to realign when it happened,it was my older e36 ,it was ok with low profiles and it was aligned with them on and when I switched to the winter steels I started to get shudder upon braking...
realignment solved the problem.
