Dang. The 40s didn't fit. They couldn't even mount the wheel, b/c the tire ran into the joint arch that juts out just above the wheel/tire.

Okay, 285/35/22s clear just barely, and they turned the wheels L/R and it fits without rubbing, also just barely. Well, I guess I figured out what the max size wheel/tire is that will fit on an X5!
