Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function is available as an alternative to the standard cruise control system with braking function. It additionally comprises Automatic Distance Control which allows for relaxed cruising in motorway or overland traffic, also ensuring that the selected distance from the vehicle ahead is maintained in low-speed stop-and-go traffic. If the selected distance from the vehicle ahead is insufficiently maintained, the system automatically makes the necessary adjustments by intervening into the car control system and by building up brake pressure. If required, the vehicle can be brought safely to a complete standstill. After a short stop, the system automatically sets the car in motion again. If the vehicle stops longer than desired, the driver can restart the car by pressing either a button or by actuating the accelerator pedal.
