As far as quality goes,its just not US built cars,its general!I bought a brand new M3-E30 in 1988 ,always garage kept and 22 years on,not a trace of rust on it anywhere,leather stood up well and the electrics faultless.In contrast I look underneath my X (also garage kept)and I am shocked !Rusty shafts,bolts,screws....!They just dont make cars like they used to!

Light switch peeling is no big deal,but its the 2nd time I heard about it on a Bmw?
You just need to ask the VAG guys with the A4s,A6,etc.....they have had really bad issues with peeling trim on door handles,centre console and most plastic interior trims for 10 years or more....!
I know ,I resprayed lots of them!
