We're not willing to pay for well-built, well-equipped small cars. Your average American consumer would rather buy a less-equipped midsize sedan than a well-equipped compact sedan for $22k. The US market believes bigger = better, and that's not going to change and nor is the small car market. Learn to accept the fact.
