As to needing a dlr to "re-code", many of us have reported no problems
after replacing a battery; usually, just turning key on for a minute clears
all the warning lights on dash panel. And, I lost no radio presets.
There are several threads on this, but Search Tab/linking is problematic
currently. I would not worry nor go to the extreme of using a back up
battery, imo.
