I like the purchase across state idea. Other than that, you have to look at who pays for the uninsured with the current system?
Let's say someone shows up at the emergency room with chest pains. Tests show large arteries almost blocked and the only way to save this person is a quadruple bypass. $200,000 later they leave the hospital. The bills start coming in, but there's no money (or motivation, or lifetime possibility) to pay them.
WHO PAYS? You and I the taxpayers, and you and I through very high insurance costs.
If this bill dies, then the slow, step.....by......step republican plan will start. With this bill we will start to see changes in 5-10 years. If we do the step by step thing, 10-15 years. It will be a whole different world by then.
