Correct, the service indicator will reset itself after a few miles of driving. As a rule of thumb, the sensors should be replaced when changing brake pads.

I have also heard horror stories about the "Brembo" brake rotors on eBay, if your X5 is a daily driver - you're best going OEM parts.
