I've been debating on getting some HID lights for the fogs, but since my wife drives it, I don't want any errors, so I just might do the bulbs. I believe that it's Much more important to have better lighting than aesthetics (function over form, especially as you get older and your sight isn't as good! lol), but if I could have both, that would be alright with me!

Try them. They're cheap and it can't hurt. Personally, I think the 8500K GP's are white and perfect for both stock 4300 and 6000. I had them on both lights, before I went to 6000. I wouldn't do 7500K.
As for the HID Fogs, the difference in lighting up the road is night and day, especially with all these potholes in the Tri-State Area lately. I'm able to see them a lot better with the HID Fogs. I've had both, and again, I really like the HID Fogs. So if it's function, then I would do the HID Fogs. The X5 is actually my wifes car too and she appreciates how much better the road lights up with the upgraded lights.
