Last time it went in they said it was an ignition coil problem and they replaced four of them, which made no difference. My BMW dealer kept my car overnight and - so they say - did the tests for the intermediate lever/s. They said ONE cyl ( no. 6)was misfiring after cold start up ( my own experience that one cyl misfire on a V8 is hard to detect - when I start up from the cold it idles on about 4 cylinders!). He said that the intermediate lever concerned was "within BMW's tolerance". Whether they checked them all, I do not know. I then remarked that what BMW UK were essentially saying was that on a £55k car (with 34k miles on the clock), it was acceptable for it to shudder and shake on a few cylinders when starting from cold. They said that was basically BMW's stance. He said that even if it had been only a few weeks old it would not have been covered by BMW's new car warranty. As BMW said that the lever was within their tolerance range, my aftermarket warranty company (Warranty Direct) obviously declined to cover it. Has anyone else in the UK had the intermediate levers problem? We need to get together to lobby BMW UK. BMW USA seem to have a better grip on the situation over there.
