I have a Mercedes GL320 and X5 35d and the BMW is quieter than the GL320. I don't even hear the clatter in the BMW. IMHO it is the only way to go with SUV/SAV. Have 2700 miles on it and averaging over 25 mpg. The clatter is not a factor.
